Connect, Create and Transform - A Gathering for Women | November 3-5 | Camp Killoqua

I am SO excited to respond to what I hear that many of you are seeking - a  Women’s Retreat. I will be co-hosting with the fabulous Courtney Wooten. She is passionate about inspiring others and is committed to collective liberation and working for equitable, sustainable, transformative change.

We will share time together, focus on unplugging, connect with each other, and explore ways to support ourselves in this busy world. We will consider our own narratives, look at our many roles, and hold up our roles as women in this time and tend to our life as a creative endeavor. Through reflection, creation and connection, you will have a chance to pause and renew.  Plan on leaving the retreat with tools to pave a path toward living your best life.

πŸ“š What I'm Reading

You may know that I have been involved with Meg Wheatley’s work through the Warriors for the Human Spirit program for many years. I am also the president of the Berkana Board of Directors. In 2017 she wrote Who Do We Choose to Be? Facing Reality Claiming Leadership and Restoring Sanity. Meg has rewritten 80% of this book and it recently was re-released. The content is relevant, important and foundational for me as I continually work to seek clarity in this world.

The new copy is very compelling and sets the stage for a book she will be releasing in March - Restoring Sanity - Practices to Awaken Generosity, Creativity and Kindness in Ourselves and Our Organizations. You can pre-order the Restoring Sanity through our bookstore here.

Here’s an inspiring community-building story. Years of work went into dreaming, planning and remodeling the Childstrive building on Casino Road to create the Village On Casino Road. Then, the pandemic happened, and the doors could only open in a limited way. 

Post-pandemic, the Village is flourishing under the leadership of Alvaro Guillen and support from the Community Foundation of Snohomish County. Located in Snohomish County’s most diverse and lowest-income zip code, 24 organizations call the Village home and work to support the community with childcare, leadership training, community navigation and more. 

The Village is an inspiring community space, welcoming neighbors to celebrate culture and create meaningful connections. The Village has hosted several gatherings this summer, including a Summer Carnival that more than 300 people attended. It is heartening to see how the Village is growing and fulfilling its mission to be a safe, inclusive, and supportive space for everyone in the community.

We don’t usually think about putting birdhouses out in the fall, but some of our feathered friends, including black-capped chickadees and house sparrows, like to use birdhouses for shelter or roosting in cooler weather.
